Projects by Coast Salish Development Corporation
Collaborating with Coast Salish Development Corporation (CSDC) creates win-win situations for all partners involved. CSDC strives to complete projects on time and on budget. Examples for such projects include the water and sewer infrastructure development on IR12 and the Mt. Hayes LNG Storage facility.
Water and Sewer Infrastructure for Oyster Bay
In April 2013 CSDC completed the water and sewer infrastructure required for the new Oyster Bay Development. CSDC not only worked with AANDC to secure $1.485 M of funding and negotiated a partnership with the Town of Ladysmith, but also coordinated archaeological, environmental and feasibility studies as well as managed the design and construction. Water and sewer is a significant requirement for the economic development of Oyster Bay.
Mt. Hayes Liquefied Gas Storage Facility - BC Aboriginal Business Award
CSDC has successfully partnered with FortisBC, acquiring a 7.5% ownership stake in the Mt. Hayes Liquefied Gas Storage Facility by making an investment of $6 million. The agreement results in significant revenue of about $24 million for the band over the next 50 years. CSDC won the BC Aboriginal Business Award for this joint venture with Fortis BC. “Stz’uminus First Nation continues to build and value our strong relationship and partnership with FortisBC. Our investment in the liquefied natural gas facility will create economic prosperity and benefits for our community’s future,” said Chief John Elliott, Stz’uminus First Nation. Stz’uminus First Nation receives annual cheques as result from this investment.
